Folkstone Asian Hornet Sighting

A sighting of the Asian Hornet in Folkstone, Kent was confirmed on 13th April 2023. Both beekeepers and members of the public, are urged to keep a look-out for other Asian Hornets, and are urged to report any suspicions using the Hornet Watch App (Apple / Android / Web)

The Asian Hornet has distinctive yellow-ended legs, and a black abdomen with a single yellow-orange band.

The native European Hornet, which is not a threat, has a mostly yellow abdomen, and red-brown legs.
